Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Burbank, CA is seeking a Repair & Overhaul Mechanical Technician II to test, repair and modify electro-mechanical units and assemblies. You will read maintenance manuals, schematics, and instructions, and document results using standard test equipment.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in related fields, an AA in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Technology, and the ability to work overtime. FAA/ITAR considerations apply; US Persons preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-3 years in a related field.
  • Knowledge of mechanical characteristics and production flow in manufacturing/repair environments.
  • Able to read and understand technical documentation and English writing.
  • Ability to learn new test software and equipment; identify abnormal conditions.
  • Education: AA degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Technology or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Read component maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics and instructions for assembling and testing electro-mechanical units.
  • Test electro-mechanical units using standard test equipment and document results.
  • Adjust and replace defective components using hand tools and soldering iron.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance and calibration of electro-mechanical assemblies and record data.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions; liaise with manufacturers as needed.

Job Summary:

The R&OMechanicalTech IIisresponsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifyingrepair and overhaul(R&O)electro-mechanicalcomponents, electro-mechanical assemblies, parts, equipment, and systems by applying principles ofmechanical theory,basicelectricalskills, engineering mathematics,testing, and physics.

Essential Functions:

  • Readcomponent maintenance manuals,blueprints, schematic drawingsand engineering instructionsforassembling andtestingelectro-mechanicalunits
  • Test electro-mechanicalunits, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment. Test, and maintainmechanicalcomponents according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, using hand and power tools
  • Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioningcomponents, using hand tools and soldering iron
  • Perform repairs, maintenance and calibration of electro-mechanical assemblies per the Component Maintenance ManualsWriteteardownreports and accuratelyrecordtestingdataand inspection results
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
  • Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
  • Provide user applications and engineering support and recommendations for new and existing equipment with regard to installation, upgrades and enhancement
  • PracticesafeworkhabitsasestablishedbyOSHAandCranepolicy
  • SupportsCraneBusinessSystem(CBS)initiativesincluding5S,KPI’s,StandardWork,Problem Solving, and other initiatives as theyarise
  • Maintainsystemlogsandmanualstodocumenttestingandoperationofequipment
  • Flexible and willing to work overtimeif necessary
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor ormanagement

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience:1-3yearsofexperienceinarelatedfield
  • Knowledge:Knowledge of methods and procedure in mechanicalcharacteristicsasrelatedtoareaofassignmentandabilitytodeviseandadapt; Familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment; Working knowledge of computersystems. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Skills:Goodoralexpressionandcomprehension(communicatethroughspeechsootherswill understand and listen to and understand information and ideas presented through speech); Good written expression and comprehension (communicate in English through writing so others will understand and read and understand information and ideas presented in English throughwriting).Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Time management skills required.
  • Abilities: Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify abnormal conditionsinequipmentandproduct;Manualandfingerdexterity(abilitytoquicklymove your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects); Ability to make precisely coordinated movements; Ability to work in multiplesoftwaresystems,includingtimeenter,dataenter.Ability to Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Education/Certification:AAdegreeinMechanicalorElectro-MechanicalTechnology,orequivalent knowledgethroughexperienceorotherrecognizededucationalinstitution
  • Eligibility Requirement: Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) and able to work under FAA FSDO requirements to be eligible.

Salary range: $28.59 - $34.94. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
