Job summary

Abbott in Sylmar, CA is hiring a Technician I, Service to perform root-cause analysis, repairs, and testing of returned medical device hardware. You’ll document work clearly, upgrade systems, and help maintain a well-organized service depot.

Requires a High School Diploma/GED, strong troubleshooting, and ability to lift 30 pounds. Prior medical device experience and soldering skills are a plus, with PC proficiency essential for daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds overhead.
• Mechanical assembly with hand tools and soldering experience.
• Fiber optic splicing is a plus.
• PC familiarity and basic software use.
• Previous work in medical devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process Return Material Authorization (RMA) receiving equipment into the Service Depot.
• Perform root-cause analysis, repair, upgrades and testing of product and systems that return from the field, documenting all work on Service Reports.
• Complete all necessary service documentation for returned product.
• Assist in maintaining organization within the Service Depot.
• Maintain inventory levels and provide inventory counts as needed.
• Assist in authorizing technical documents for repair, upgrade or testing of returned product.
• Support Quality Management Systems, EMS and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

his position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

Technician I, Service is responsible for performing root-cause analysis and upgrades on high quality medical device hardware and systems. This position includes detailed assembly and testing of various electronic components and finished devices.

What You’ll Work On

• Process Return Material Authorization (RMA) receiving equipment into the Service Depot.

• Perform root-cause analysis, repair, upgrades and testing of product and systems that return from the field, documenting all work on Service Reports.

• Complete all necessary service documentation required for returned product.

• Assist in maintaining organization within the Service Depot.

• Maintain inventory levels and provide inventory counts when required.

• Provide assistance in the authorizing of technical documents related to the repair, upgrade or testing of returned product.

• Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

• Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

• High School Diploma/GED

• Exceptional troubleshooting ability

• Physical ability to lift 30 pounds overhead

• Mechanical assembly, able to work with tools Soldering skills

• Fiber optic splicing a plus

• PC experience a must

• Previous experience in a medical device company preferred

The base pay for this position is $18.70 – $37.40 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
