Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Technician I for Bayside State Prison, Leesburg, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.

Duties include taking vital signs, assisting physicians, specimen collection, equipment sterilization, and managing supplies and medication orders. Minimum CMA/EMT/CNA certification with at least two years of healthcare experience is required.

Qualifications

• Valid CMA, EMT, or CNA certification required.
• At least two years of progressively responsible healthcare experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required; must have own vehicle or transportation to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height, weight and documents in EMR.
• Assists physician/AP with procedures and prepares inmates for examinations.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including blood draws.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and ensures proper sterilization.
• Maintains supply stock in Health Service Unit and examination rooms.
• Aggregates medication orders and forwards to pharmacy.

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Technician I for Bayside State Prison, located in Leesburg, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison. Among the duties for the position are:

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records ( EMR ).
• Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
• Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
• Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
• Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position.
