Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Technician I for Southwoods State Prison, Bridgeton, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.

Among the duties for the position are: taking vital signs, preparing inmates for examinations, obtaining specimens, assisting with procedures, and coordinating medication orders with the pharmacy while maintaining EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• CMA, EMT, or CNA certification required.
• At least two years of related healthcare experience.
• CPR certification required; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in EMR.
• Assists physician/APP with procedures and patient prep for exams.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling (e.g., blood draws).
• Assists with cleaning, sterilization and securing equipment in Health Service Unit.
• Maintains supply stock and orders replenishments as needed.
• Aggregates medication orders and forwards to pharmacy provider.

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records ( EMR ).
• Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
• Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
• Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
• Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Valid Certified Medical Assistant ( CMA ), Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ), or Certified Nurse Assistant ( CNA ) certification required.
• At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position

Physical Demands and Work Environment
