Job summary

The City of Midwest City is seeking a Technician I/Mechanic in the Fleet Services department. The incumbent will repair and maintain light and heavy automotive equipment powered by gasoline or diesel engines, including cars, trucks, tractors and construction equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and prior automotive experience. A valid Oklahoma driver’s license and insurability are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in automotive maintenance required.
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and be insurable.
• All new employees must obtain ASE certification in required categories within the first year; additional categories required for progression.
• This position is safety/security sensitive and subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening.

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Technician I/Mechanic in the Fleet Services department. The incumbent performs skilled repair and maintenance of light and heavy automotive equipment with gasoline or diesel engines, including cars, trucks, tractors and construction equipment. High school graduate or equivalent with previous experience in automotive maintenance and repair required. Regular use of highly complex machines and equipment; specialized or advanced software programs.

Requirements: E-1: Must possess a valid Oklahoma drivers license and be insurable. All new employees must receive or possess at least one category of ASE certification within their first year of employment. E-3: Must obtain or possess ASE certification in 5 categories. E-5: Must obtain or possess ASE certification in 7 categories. Commercial driver license preferred. This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and random drug and alcohol screening.

Starting Salary: $20.2362-$21.4269/hr. w/Benefits depending on ASE certifications.
