Job summary

Bennett Motor Express Management Inc in McDonough, GA is seeking a highly motivated commercial vehicle inspector/mechanic with minimal supervision to perform PMs, DOT inspections, and on-site diagnostics. You will diagnose electrical trailer lighting, air systems, and other mechanical components, coordinate with management and vendors, bring your own hand tools, and lift 100 lbs.

Class A license is a plus; welding certification is desirable but not required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years current relevant mechanical experience on commercial vehicles and trailers.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A preferred.
• Must be computer literate (email, Word, Excel) and able to learn other systems.
• Own hand tools and pneumatic tools up to ½″ drive.
• Able to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Forklift certification preferred; welding certification desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM services and Annual DOT inspections per company procedures and FHWA regulations.
• Diagnose and repair electrical trailer lighting systems and fix as needed.
• Diagnose and repair air systems and related components.
• Perform additional repairs to trailing equipment and material handling equipment as directed.
• Coordinate with on-site and off-site management and vendors to ensure economical, safe repairs.

Overview:Seeking a highly motivated self-starter who is detail oriented to work in a fast paced truck/trailer repair facility as a commercial vehicle inspector / Mechanic with minimal direct supervision. Individual must be able to quickly perform courtesy inspections based on company standards on all inbound/outbound equipment/trucks.Duties:Perform PM services and Annual DOT inspections per company procedures and in accordance with FHWA regulations.Perform electrical diagnostics on trailer lighting systems and make corresponding repairs in accordance with company procedures and industry recommended best practices.Diagnosis and repairs of various air systems and components as needed.Perform additional repairs and modifications to trailing equipment, material handling equipment, and other machinery as directed by supervisors.Ability to work with both on and off site management teams as well as outside vendors to ensure repairs are completed with the most economical and expedient means possible and without jeopardizing the quality of repairs or the equipment integrity and safety.Requirements:Must have a valid driver’s license, Class A is a plus.Individual must be computer literate with email, Microsoft Word, Excel and have the ability to learn other operating systems.Must possess own hand tools and limited pneumatic tools up to ½” drive.Must have the ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 100lbs.Must have the ability to become forklift certified.Mechanic must be qualified, or have the ability to obtain qualification to inspect and adjust brakes.Minimum 3-5 years current relevant mechanical experience on and with commercial vehicles and trailers.Welding Certification desired but not required.EEO/Vets/Women/Disabled/Minoritieswww.bennettig.com
