Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services seeks a Diesel Service Technician to perform in-shop service and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks. You will use OEM diagnostic software, conduct engine and transmission work, and assist with dyno testing to ensure components meet manufacturer specs.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of diesel service experience, strong mechanical skills, and good communication abilities. Company offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certificate in Automotive/Diesel preferred.
  • Minimum two years of related diesel service/repair experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-shop service and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks.
  • Use OEM diagnostic software for repairs.
  • Engine swings, transmission replacements, air brake services.
  • In-frame overhaul of heavy-duty engines to factory specs.
  • Rebuild Allison transmissions in dedicated overhaul area.
  • Operate engine, transmission, and chassis dynos for diagnostics.
  • Inspect, operate, and test completed products.
  • Complete timekeeping and paperwork for repairs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Position Title: Diesel Service TechnicianReporting to: Service ManagerDepartment: ServiceCentral Power Systems & Services is a privately held company with deep roots going back to 1954. We are looking for a Diesel Service Technician to help support that mission.JOB SUMMARYThe Diesel Service Technician is responsible for the In-Shop floor technical assistance for mechanics, repairs and service/maintenance as directed by the Service Foreman.RESPONSIBILITIESPerform service and maintenance on all makes and models of heavy-duty trucksUse of OEM diagnostic software to perform repairs in line with dealer and manufacturer specificationsPerform heavy-duty engine swings, transmission replacements, air brake services and chassis repairsIn-depth repair of engine and transmission-related components (Training provided!)In-frame overhaul of heavy-duty engines to include gear train inspection, cylinder head replacement, piston and connecting rod replacement and main bearing replacement to factory specificationsRebuilding of Allison transmissions in dedicated overhaul areaOperation of state-of-the-art engine, transmission and chassis dynos to aid in diagnostics and ensure correct operation following repairsClock on to work ordersRepair various components of on-highway vehiclesPosition and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists.Troubleshoot and DiagnoseInspect, operate and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities and conformance to customer specificationsPerforms repairs as directed by the Service ForemanComplete all timekeeping requirements to track labor in jobsComplete all paperwork necessary to perform repairs as directedOther responsibilities as designated by and at the discretion of managementGreat BenefitsHighly Competitive PayMedical, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance401k with company matchPaid Time OffPaid Certification TrainingOpportunity for advancementQUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or GED required. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
