Ziegler CAT in Bloomington is hiring a Diesel Technician to service Caterpillar heavy construction equipment. Second shift 12:00 PM–10:30 PM, Mon–Thu (4x10s). Starting pay ranges from $27.00 to $45.00 per hour, dependent on skills and location.

Full-time role with benefits including health/dental/vision, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with match, and more. Duties include diagnosing and repairing CAT machines, documenting work orders, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field.
• High school diploma with 2 years of repair experience.
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment preferred.
• Ability to document work orders and use online diagnostics.
• Safety-sensitive role; pre-employment drug test required.

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Diesel Technician to work on Caterpillar heavy construction equipment at our Bloomington location. 2nd shift hours: 12 Noon - 10:30 pm, Mon - Thurs (4 x 10's).

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment, compact equipment, aerial equipment and paving equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
