About the Role

As a Gelatin Technician I, you will weigh necessary materials and use gelatin melters to produce gelatin for the Encapsulation department. You will prepare and manufacture one of three gel masses (Soft gel, Vegan gel, or Tapioca gel) and determine viscosity when required.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares materials for compounding into gel mass.
  • Sets up and cleans equipment for processing operations.
  • Opens reactors capable of manufacturing one of three gel masses.
  • Manufactures one of the three gel masses following batch record instructions.
  • Performs or verifies batch record entries.
  • Disposes of scrap gelatin.
  • Ensures gel mass in receivers is kept at the appropriate temperature at all times.
  • Reports questions, process and equipment issues promptly to Supervisor.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date batch records, equipment log books, and related records.
  • Cleans and maintains processing rooms and equipment.
  • Monitors process and equipment, making necessary adjustments to maintain batch record specifications.
  • Follows established department SOPs, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates safely.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in an FDA‑regulated industry.
  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.
Work Environment
  • Noise level typically moderate to high; hearing protection may be required for an 8‑hour shift.
  • Requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching, pulling, pushing, and tilting objects.
  • Requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing.
  • Lifting limits 40‑50 lbs; may manipulate heavier containers.
  • Exposure to odoriferous substances, extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
  • Exposure to chemicals, solutions, detergents, solvents, and allergens (Soy, Wheat, Fish, Shellfish, Milk, Egg, Tree nuts, Sesame).
  • Personal protective equipment provided as necessary.
