Summary/objective
The Field Technician will be based inside an automotive repair shop and perform diagnostic scans and calibrations, as well as assist with virtual diagnostic scans and calibrations. This position will consult with the shop(s) and promote Repairify in relation to diagnostics and calibrations.
Essential Functions
- Serve as primary client contact as needed within the service process
- Promote the necessity for diagnostics and calibrations at the assigned shop
- Perform precise calibrations for all types of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across most vehicle makes and models
- Utilize OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to recommend repairs and calibrations
- Document pre and post vehicle calibrations and prepare reports for customers
- Read and understand measurements in standard and metric units
- Perform basic R/I procedures to access sensors and control modules
- Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical individuals
- Interpret technical information, electrical components, and ADAS data
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques
- Drive customer or company vehicles for delivery, testing, or calibration
- Build effective relationships with repair facilities, body shops, and insurance carriers
- Collaborate with other technicians on diagnostic test plans
- Adhere to company policies, safety, and environmental rules
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- 1-2 years of car dealership or aftermarket repair experience as an Automotive Technician
- Experience with OEM and/or aftermarket scan tools
- Knowledge of fault identification, error messages, and modules
- Automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis and repair skills
- Understanding of automotive industry terminology
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical College Graduate in Automotive Field or equivalent
- Excellent written communication skills
- Certifications such as ASE, I-Car, MECP
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Work environment
Inside an automotive repair shop environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, with fumes or odors from vehicle maintenance.
Physical demands
- Lift up to 75 pounds independently
- Transport up to 75 pounds for up to 20 feet
- Stand for extended periods, with frequent movement and environmental exposure
- Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity required
- Use of safety equipment such as face shields, gloves, masks, etc.
- Frequent driving and some typing; visual acuity for vehicle operation
Travel Required
Some travel within the assigned area is expected.
