Job summary

Black Hills, part of TurnPoint Services, is seeking a skilled Electrical Service Technician in Olympia to diagnose and repair 120/240/277/480V systems, perform panel upgrades, EV charger installs, and ensure safety with NEC/NFPA 70E standards.

You will work with field apps and tablets for estimates, coordinate with dispatch, and participate in on-call rotations. A Journeyman/Master license or ability to obtain is required, along with a valid driver's license and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in residential or light commercial electrical service.
  • Licensing: State Journeyman/Master Electrician license (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong diagnostics, load calculations, bonding/grounding, aluminum/copper terminations, basic controls/low-voltage.
  • Professional communication, option-building, and ability to explain code/safety findings in plain language.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose issues on 120/240/277/480V systems; repair circuits, breakers, panels, outlets, switches, GFCI/AFCI devices, and lighting.
  • Upgrades & Installs: Panel swaps, service upgrades, dedicated circuits, EV charger installs, generator interlocks/ATS, surge protection, and lighting controls.
  • Safety & Code: Follow NEC/NFPA 70E standards; adhere to LOTO, PPE, ladder/roof safety, and SOPs; complete permits/inspections.
  • Customer Experience: Educate customers, present repair/upgrade options, obtain approvals, collect signatures/payments, close tickets with notes/photos.
  • Documentation: Use field service app to capture diagnostics and time; build estimates and change orders in real time.
  • Inventory & Vehicle: Maintain truck stock, tools, and cleanliness; process returns/cores.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with dispatch, support apprentices, participate in training.

What You Bring
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in residential or light commercial electrical service (panel work, circuits, lighting, code corrections). - Licensing: State [Journeyman/Master] Electrician license (or ability to obtain); valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR. - Technical Skills: Strong diagnostics, load calculations, bonding/grounding, aluminum/copper terminations, basic controls/low-voltage, and use of test instruments. - Customer & Sales Skills: Professional communication, option-building, and ability to explain code/safety findings in plain language. - Tools & Tech: Proficient with mobile work order/CRM apps; comfortable using tablets for estimates and documentation. - Bonus Points: OSHA-10/30, NFPA 70E, EVSE certifications, generator experience, bilingual skills. Physical & Work Conditions - Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; frequent standing, bending, kneeling; attic/crawl/roof work; indoor/outdoor environments and varied temperatures. - Participate in on-call rotation, occasional evenings/weekends/OT during peak demand.
