Job summary

Nutrien in Borger, TX invites an Associate-level Technician to maintain and troubleshoot the DCS/PLC platform and related instrumentation. This on-site role emphasizes reliability, life-cycle management, and collaborative work with Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Projects.

You will work with DCS/PLC systems, SCADA, and control drawings, performing installation, troubleshooting, and improvements while following safety practices.

Qualifications

• Two years of vocational/technical training in electrical or instrumentation, or 5+ years directly related experience.
• Experience with DCS and PLCs is required, with Honeywell Experion preference.
• 3+ years in a manufacturing plant or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the DCS and PLC platform maintenance and lifecycle to ensure reliability.
• Maintain the process information systems historian and connectivity to the DCS.
• Troubleshoot to operations using DCS/PLC and networking expertise.
• Assist design and management of improvement projects related to DCS/PLC and network.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical systems (4-20mA, 1-5V, 24V).
• Collaborate with Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Projects.

What You'll Do:

• Management of the DCS and PLC platform and associated infrastructure regarding its maintenance and life-cycle management to ensure continued reliability.
• Maintenance of the process information systems historian and connectivity to the DCS.
• Utilize DCS, PLC and communications technical expertise to provide day to day troubleshooting to operations.
• Assist with design, implementation and management of improvement projects related to the DCS/PLC platform and network.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, maintain, and repair instrumentation and electrical systems, primarily focused on DCS but providing additional I&E support as needed. Including network ethernet and fiber optics
• Work within a team environment that includes Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Projects
• Troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS) at the network, controller and I/O level to resolve customer problems in an efficient manner and keep systems running
• Develop and/or redline P&IDs, electrical drawings/schematics, control documents and loop drawings
• Instrumentation, 4-20ma / 1-5v,24v etc. installation / troubleshooting

What You'll Bring:

• Two years education at a vocational/technical school in the electrical or instrumentation field, or 5+ years' directly related experience required
• Experience with DCS and PLCs is required, with preference given to individuals with Honeywell Experion expertise.
• 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing plant or industrial environment required
• Knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controllers and valve positioners
• Experience working with DCS, PLC's and SCADA
• Knowledge of all types of instruments and electrical test equipment
• Experience with three phase motors, motor controls and Electrical distribution systems
• Understand electrical safe work practices
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical ability
