Job description

Position Summary

As an Engineering Technician in the Core Engineering Department, you will be at the center of a cross‑functional lab environment responsible for lifecycle testing, root cause analysis, product qualification, and ensuring our equipment and infrastructure runs reliably. You will work hands‑on with a diverse range of instruments (oscilloscopes, tensile testers, CMM, flow meter, etc.) and help the engineering teams perform analysis, verification/validation, and root cause testing. Parker believes in continuous improvement at every level of the business, so you will have the opportunity to create lab procedures and best practices, identify and resolve equipment/capability gaps, and implement improvements to almost any aspect of lab operations. Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering tests including but not limited to: reliability/life cycle testing, environmental testing, air and liquid flow and leak testing, reports summarizing results.

  • Perform product tear‑down of a variety of different product families in support of root cause analysis of defective product.

  • Read engineering drawings and measure component dimensions against them.

  • Design and build manifolds and test fixturing for liquid and gas valves in conjunction with on‑site machine shop.

  • Manage equipment inventory, calibration schedules, and coordinate repairs with outside vendors. Develop a familiarity with how to use all equipment and maintain easy access to equipment IFUs/be available for instruction on lab equipment.

  • Propose, maintain, and adjust ideal lab layout and organization scheme based on ongoing observations and user needs.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and document issues observed during lab operations; elevate findings to supervisors and cross‑functional partners.

  • Manage test scheduling for multiple departments; identify and communicate gaps and shortcomings in lab capability.

  • Contribute to continuous development of lab by developing lab work instructions, visual aids, and other documentation supporting best practices and training for the larger engineering group.

Qualifications
  • Highschool Diploma required, associate's degree desired.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Documentation or report writing experience in a technical role.

  • MS Office experience required. Must have experience in use of word, excel, technical writing and basic information technology.

  • Experience with mechanical tools and hardware.

  • Soldering and PCB rework skills.

  • Familiarity with root‑cause analysis and failure documentation practices.

  • Application of statistical tools and techniques.

  • Experience with electromechanical devices.

  • Experience in an engineering lab environment.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

  • Computer literacy, file storage and good documentation practices.

  • Experience with configuration management, blueprint reading, and Bill of Material maintenance desirable.

  • Must be well organized and excellent at managing priorities.

  • Ability to successfully interact with various departments in the accomplishment of the above responsibilities.

  • Able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and open to re‑direction.

  • Experience with a variety of standard lab equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - some basic math skills necessary.

  • Demonstration of good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Manufacturing machinery, testing systems, and processing/quality equipment knowledge.
