Job summary

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Rental Diesel Technician to service a range of Ziegler-owned rental equipment at our Columbus location. This full-time role offers steady hours 6:30am-3pm, Monday through Friday, with comprehensive benefits and continual training opportunities.

You’ll diagnose and repair diesel-powered machines, document work orders, and work safely while collaborating with a team of skilled technicians.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a range of rental equipment, including skid steers, mini excavators, and aerial lifts.
• Document work orders thoroughly to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work safely and follow company policies.
• Collaborate with other technicians on troubleshooting repairs.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and product knowledge.

Hours: 6:30am-3pm, Monday-Friday. The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00 Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair equipment including skid steers, compact wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, CUV’s, among other light and medium construction equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications:

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, driveline, electrical/electronics, diesel exhaust systems, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Minimum physical requirements:

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
