ResponsibilitiesJob SummaryThe Building Systems Technician manages daily operations, preventative and corrective maintenance of system-wide power plant and HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, generators, fire alarms, pneumatic tube, and sprinkler systems. The role involves troubleshooting, testing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various medical and non-medical equipment and building systems such as electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical systems. The technician works independently, makes quick decisions, and maintains excellent communication to ensure high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Promotes teamwork and a culture of service excellence.
Essential Functions- Operate Power Plant, HVAC, and other building systems; document work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Repair, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure reliable service. Maintain CFC systems safely and keep certifications current.
- Conduct daily inspections of boilers, pipelines, vessels, meters, and gauges; adjust equipment to meet operational demands.
- Maintain technical expertise to ensure safety, code compliance, and efficiency; treat systems chemically as needed.
- Respond promptly to customer requests, resolving issues with high customer service standards.
- Assist colleagues with projects and maintenance of building systems and equipment.
- Maintain and repair patient care equipment and perform general maintenance duties.
- Stay updated on laws, regulations, standards, and codes related to Power Plants and HVAC; train others as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education- High School Diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
- Related coursework, seminars, or certifications preferred.
- Electronic controls certification or technical institute certificate preferred.
Experience- Healthcare environment experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC and power plant equipment required.
Licenses and Certifications- Refrigeration certification or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
