Job summary

Shentel is seeking a Broadband Technician to perform preventive and demand maintenance and repair on the hybrid fiber coax (HFC) or FTTH network and its equipment to ensure reliable service and performance. The role requires climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and field travel as needed.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, with 0–2 years of maintenance experience or equivalent certification. This position involves outdoor work in varying weather and environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the hybrid fiber coax (HFC) or FTTH broadband network and its equipment to meet operational standards.
• Maintain or improve system performance standards.
• May travel up to 25% daily to support field operations.

Job Summary

Responsible for preventive and demand maintenance and repair of the hybrid fiber coax (HFC) or fiber to the home (FTTH) broadband network including its associated equipment in accordance with operational standards and the company's policy. This includes maintaining or improving system performance standards.

Environmental Requirements

Factors affecting environmental conditions will vary depending on the assigned work area and task.

• Ability to climb ladders and/or utility poles and work in in high places
• Ability to work in small places (such as crawl spaces and attics)
• Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions and varying topographic, wet and dry locations.
• Up to 25% daily travel time may be required.
• Lifts and carries loads of 70 lbs. or more, works in confined spaces such as crawl spaces or attics, works while standing 50 -70% of the time and performs work near power lines and electricity.

Education

• High School Diploma / GED

Relevant Work Experience

• Maintenance Level I: 0-2 Years Maintenance Experience, Master Tech Certification or equivalent industry certifications/experience.
