This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Description Summary:

Provides hands‑on support to Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing by performing activities such as test, check‑out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle safety systems, and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to conduct testing, checkout, and troubleshooting. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Performs work in both laboratory settings and on the manufacturing floor or vehicle, depending on needs.

Job Description

This role is part of the Engines, In‑Space Systems and Test Ops group and is based in Kent but supports all Business Units and groups across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of flight‑grade avionics. Work in the Avionics Hardware Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in soldering, component‑level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.

Responsibilities
  • Build components and assemblies for all groups across Blue Origin in development, test, and flight environments.
  • Assist with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices.
  • Provide regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes that lead to more efficient assembly.
  • Serve internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe human spaceflight.
  • Apply a focus on safety, collaboration, and quality, balancing speed and safety to create high‑quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the betterment of mankind.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
  • Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering, and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
  • Experience applying torque to fasteners or components.
  • Fabricating, terminating, and repairing/testing of wire harnesses.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in aerospace avionics or related fields.
  • Experience inspecting and certifying work to relevant standards and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and passion for space.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work a 40‑hour work week (4 × 10 h) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
  • Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly, fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair, or component replacement.
  • Experience with energized power/high‑voltage systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.
  • Certification in or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • J‑STD/J‑STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework, and 620/620 Space Addendum.
  • Experience interfacing with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders, and configuration management systems.
  • Experience documenting non‑conformances and performing dispositioned repairs.
Compensation

WA applicants: $29.91 – $41.87 per hour. Other site ranges may differ.
