Job summary

Jobtailor in Yakima, WA seeks a skilled Mechanical Assembler to build and test production components, ensuring conformance to blueprints and specifications. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on mechanical assembly or equivalent in an industrial environment.
  • Basic understanding of algebraic concepts.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to read part drawings/blueprints with dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and finish production components according to specifications; perform functional testing; identify and report defective parts; and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Assemble various critical tolerance hydraulic assembly components following instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Finish applications such as lockwire, sealant, and paint touch-up; install plates, grease fittings, clamps, and zip ties.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments to verify drawing/work order requirements.
  • Monitor and verify quality per manufacturing planning, quality plans, and engineering drawings.
  • Calibrate pressure gauges and transducers per Acceptance Test Procedure requirements.
  • Understand and complete acceptance test procedures with little supervision.
  • Ensure part quality by using correct tooling and standard practices.
  • Meet production deadlines by following schedules and procedures.
  • Collaborate with support resources and cell leaders to resolve production problems.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and participating in risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to team effort with a positive attitude.
  • Seek continuous improvements to make manufacturing processes more efficient.
  • Support overall assembly department effectiveness through participation in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and process improvement programs.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required.
  • General mechanical knowledge/background.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on mechanical assembly or 4 years of demonstrated proficiency in a comparable industrial environment.
  • Basic understanding of algebraic concepts.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to read part drawings/blueprints, including dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics.
