Summary of Position:

The Technician will possess advanced knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components, and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This includes gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems, with potential responsibilities in welding and fabrication.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Report to the Maintenance Supervisor and handle diagnostics for a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.
2. Maintain and repair Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus vehicles and equipment.
3. Support coworkers in safe and efficient maintenance and repair activities.
4. Complete all paperwork accurately and promptly.
5. Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, OSHA-compliant work environment.
6. Use vehicle electronic systems to diagnose failures and initiate repairs.
7. Perform safety checks and repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
8. Uphold high standards of ethics and dependability.

Qualifications:

• Ability to perform drive train, engine, transmission inspections, diagnosis, and repairs.
• Assess structural damage and guide repair strategies.
• Provide guidance to shop technicians.
• CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Obtain 7 ASE Certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience with medium duty Class 8 vehicles, preferably in waste/recycling industry.
• Understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
• Proficient in computer use for data tracking and communication (e.g., Dossier, Microsoft Office).

Other Responsibilities:

• Attend and participate in corporate training courses.
• Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

• Exposure to chemicals and waste.
• Physical activities including walking, lifting, twisting, crouching, and repetitive motions.
• Sufficient stamina for a steady work pace.
• Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ability to get in and out of vehicles frequently.
• Lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive bending, reaching, twisting.
• Work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Work Environment:

Primarily inside and outside, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
