Site Location: Covington - The North Shore, 604A

Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components, and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. Welding and fabrication skills may be required.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, diagnose issues related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.
  2. Maintain and repair all aspects of Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus vehicles and equipment.
  3. Support coworkers in working safely and efficiently in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
  4. Complete all required paperwork promptly and accurately.
  5. Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  7. Use vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
  8. Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  9. Perform repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
  10. Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
Qualifications
  • Ability to perform drive train, engine, transmission inspections, diagnosis, and repairs.
  • Ability to assess structural damage and recommend repairs.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to shop technicians.
  • CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Obtain 7 ASE Certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of medium-duty class 8 vehicles, preferably in waste/recycling industry.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
  • Proficiency with computers for data tracking and communication (e.g., Dossier, Microsoft Office).

Note: CDL is not required for this position.

Other Responsibilities
  • Attend and participate in company-sponsored training courses.
  • Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Ability to lift 50-75 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks is necessary.

Work Environment: Inside and outside, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
