Position Overview

The Technician 2, HVAC is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment. This role ensures systems meet stringent pharmaceutical manufacturing and storage requirements and conducts regular inspections and preventive maintenance to keep HVAC/R systems operating within specifications.

FUJIFILM Biotechnologies is building the future of bioproduction in Holly Springs, North Carolina. By the end of 2025, the company will open North America’s largest end‑to‑end CDMO biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility, offering drug substance production, fill‑finish, and packaging under one roof. The facility will be located in Holly Springs, combining a small‑town atmosphere with proximity to Raleigh’s tech scene.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

• Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance of the site’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment with limited supervision.
• Report complex HVAC issues to senior technicians, management or plant engineering.
• Oversee the installation of equipment, as required.
• Lead small projects related to HVAC systems and cold rooms.
• Provide recommendations to management for developing HVAC maintenance schedules.
• Mentor or provide training to HVAC technicians.
• Input into development of maintenance and repair plans for HVAC systems and equipment, including cold rooms.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Routinely test and certify HEPA filters on the prescribed schedule.
• Assist with maintaining contracts with external vendors, as needed.
• Conduct work adhering to system air balancing activities under the guidance of senior technicians or management.
• Assist site functions to qualify and maintain production ventilation and equipment.
• Interact with vendors or other departments, contractors, and disciplines to schedule repairs and maintenance.
• Complete specialized training programs for HVAC systems.
• Work with Building Management Systems (BMS) to trend and review specific HVAC data.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Utilities, Plant Engineering, and other support groups.
• Assist with revising and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), as needed.
• Support site operations and emergency work orders during off‑hours, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2‑4 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repairs.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in HVAC.
• Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification (EPA 608 Certification).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, applied engineering or another relevant field.
• Prior experience with industrial HVAC systems.
• Prior experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or equivalent work‑order management.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing refrigerant systems and testing and certifying HEPA filters.
• HVAC/Refrigeration Certification.

Physical Requirements

• Work in environments that may necessitate respiratory protection.
• Work in mechanical/production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program.
• Operate a motor vehicle or powered industrial truck.
• Discern audible cues.
• Inspect or perform tasks requiring 20/20 corrected vision, including color distinction.
• Ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
• Stand for up to 12 hours.
• Sit for up to 12 hours.
• Perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions.
• Move objects up to 33 lbs.
• Bend, push, pull, reach to retrieve materials from 18‑to‑60 inches in height, and use twisting motions.
• Work in temperatures ranging from 0‑110°F.
• Work in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
• Work in small and/or enclosed spaces.
• Work at heights greater than 4 feet.
