Job summary

Sammons Industrial is hiring a Service Technician I to keep our customers’ material handling equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain systems across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and related areas, whether at a customer site or in the shop.

You’ll bring a high school diploma or GED and 1+ years of forklift repair or related mechanical experience, with a strong mechanical aptitude and clear communication skills to support teamwork and customer

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 1+ years in forklift repair or related mechanical work.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities essential.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, lifting, engine, transmission, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems and inspect equipment for failures and safety concerns.
  • Perform basic welding when needed and ensure safe operation according to procedures.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Service Technician I, you’ll help keep our customers’ material handling equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work. Whether you’re working at a customer site or in our shop, you’ll use your mechanical skills and problem-solving ability to diagnose issues, make quality repairs, and help prevent problems before they happen.

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, lifting, engine, transmission, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems and inspect equipment to identify failures, potential issues, and safety concerns, including rebuilding or repairing components and performing basic welding when needed.
  • Put safety first in every job by following proper equipment procedures, maintaining a clean work environment, participating in safety meetings, and meeting applicable OSHA, DOT, and company requirements.
  • Take ownership of quality service by completing repair documentation on time, maintaining needed parts and supplies, completing required technical training and certifications, and delivering a great customer experience.
What You’ll Bring
  • A high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and 1+ years of forklift repair or related mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and teammates.
  • Certification on at least 50% of the company product line; mechanical or trade school training and Hyster-Yale Maintenance or Service Technician certifications are preferred.
  • The ability to perform hands‑on physical work, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and twisting; lifting up to 75 pounds.
