Job summary

PlanIT Group, LLC is seeking a diesel mechanic to work on-site at White Sands Missile Range, NM. The role involves hands-on maintenance of military vehicle powertrains and related systems at the White Sands location.

You will read technical drawings, diagnose issues, perform calibration and testing, and support platforms such as M270, HIMARS, HUMVEE, Stryker, M1 Abrams, MRAP with preventive maintenance and fault isolation. On-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with gasoline and diesel engines; troubleshooting powertrain systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment per schematics and drawings.
• Operate test equipment, conduct functional and performance tests, document results.
• Perform calibration and alignment checks; execute modifications and part replacements.
• Provide hands-on mechanical support for military vehicles (e.g., HIMARS, M270, Bradley, Stryker, M1 Abrams, MRAP) including preventive maintenance and fault isolation.

Primary Responsibilities

• " Assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment, components, and systems in accordance with schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal work instructions.
• " Operate test equipment, conduct functional and performance tests, and document results in the prescribed format.
• " Perform precise calibration and alignment checks; execute modifications, part replacements, and preparation of required compounds and solutions.
• " Provide hands on mechanical support for HIMARS, M270, Bradley, Stryker, M1 Abrams, MRAP, and other military vehicles, including preventative maintenance, fault isolation, and repair of diesel and gasoline power train systems.

Required Qualifications

• " Familiarity with gasoline and diesel engines; proven troubleshooting ability on vehicle power train systems.
• " Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.

Desired Experience

• " Prior experience as a diesel mechanic on heavy duty equipment (e.g., bulldozers, large industrial diesel engines).
• " Demonstrated work on military platforms such as M270, HIMARS, HUMVEE, or comparable tactical vehicles.

No prior experience is required; on the job training will be provided for qualified candidates
