Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience operating CT scanners and performing CT protocols.
  • Ability to position patients and ensure comfort and safety.
  • Proficiency with IV contrast administration and adverse reaction management.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles (ALARA).
  • Familiarity with PACS/RIS and EMR documentation.
  • HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT scans according to physician orders and established protocols, producing high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Verify patient identity, review orders and histories, and screen for contraindications to CT and contrast use.
  • Position patients properly, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and safety throughout the exam.
  • Prepare and administer IV contrast agents, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Apply radiation safety principles to minimize dose to patients, self, and staff while maintaining image quality.
  • Review images for diagnostic adequacy and collaborate with radiologists to repeat or supplement studies when needed.
  • Document procedures accurately in the EMR/RIS and ensure images are correctly sent to and labeled in PACS.
  • Maintain, clean, and perform basic quality checks on CT equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other departments to coordinate timely patient throughput and care.
  • Support a patient-centered environment by communicating clearly, respecting privacy, and providing compassionate care.
  • Participate in continuing education, competencies, and policy updates to maintain required certifications and best practices.
