Amperesand is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Test Engineering Technician to support prototype development, equipment integration, and high-voltage power electronics testing and validation activities.
This role combines electro-mechanical assembly, test execution, validation, and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable building and troubleshooting complex electrical systems, setting up test equipment, collecting and presenting data, and adapting quickly as development priorities evolve. Safety, attention to detail, and collaboration are critical to success in this position.
Responsibilities Assembly & Development
- Build and wire electrical panels and control systems
- Fabricate brackets, fixtures, wiring harnesses, and custom components using hand tools, power tools, soldering, crimping, and light machining techniques
- Support installation, wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting of manufacturing and pilot-line equipment, including automation platforms and fixtures
- Collaborate with engineers on prototype iterations, test fixture development, and product improvements
Testing & Validation
- Set up, configure, and maintain test equipment for electrical, mechanical, and power electronics validation
- Execute development, qualification, and validation testing according to established protocols
- Collect, analyze, document, and present test data and results
- Develop and improve testing procedures, protocols, and laboratory practices based on engineering feedback and test results
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and integrated system issues
- Operate laboratory instruments including multimeters, oscilloscopes, DAQs, and other diagnostic equipment
- Assist with process validation and product qualification activities
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, CAD models, and engineering documentation
- Document assembly processes, testing procedures, findings, corrective actions, and design recommendations
- Participate in design reviews and provide testability and manufacturability feedback to engineering teams
- Maintain organized laboratory, inventory, and prototype storage areas
- Support receiving, shipping, logistics, and inventory management activities
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, especially when working around high-voltage systems
- Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain compliance with electrical safety requirements
- Apply ESD controls and best practices when handling sensitive electronics
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and enforcing laboratory and test safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and internal safety standards
