Job Description

This role focuses on building, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting mission-critical transformer and power distribution systems used in hyperscale data center environments. You will perform both mechanical and electrical assembly of complex power infrastructure equipment, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements prior to deployment into data center facilities. The position offers significant overtime opportunities and a generous per diem structure that enhances total compensation, making it an attractive option for technicians and inspectors seeking steady work on critical power systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble complex transformer, power distribution, and electrical infrastructure systems in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards.
  • Perform wiring, cable routing, termination, crimping, and electrical connections within transformer assemblies and associated power equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation to ensure accurate and compliant builds.
  • Conduct mechanical assembly and integration of components including bus bars, transformers, switchgear-related assemblies, harnesses, and power distribution hardware.
  • Perform electrical continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, mechanical inspections, and functional testing to verify product performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, identify root causes, and perform repair or rework activities as needed to meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Support Data Center Systems Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers by providing feedback on assembly processes, testing procedures, tooling improvements, and manufacturability enhancements.
  • Assist with commissioning readiness activities and prepare equipment for deployment into hyperscale data center environments.
  • Collaborate within a high-volume production environment to maintain workflow, meet production schedules, and minimize bottlenecks in assembly and test operations.
  • Ensure all assemblies meet customer, safety, and quality requirements for mission-critical infrastructure applications.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, safety, and repeatability across assembly and testing operations.
  • Train and mentor team members on assembly procedures, workmanship standards, and testing methodologies to support team capability and consistency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment in the manufacturing facility.
  • Adhere to all company, customer, and regulatory safety guidelines and procedures while performing mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, assembly, field service, installation, cabling, and repair work on equipment up to 480V.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience supporting data center, critical power, electrical distribution, transformer manufacturing, switchgear, UPS, generator, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to assemble mechanical and electrical components including transformers, bus bars, switchgear assemblies, harnesses, and power distribution hardware.
  • Proficiency in wiring, cable routing, termination, crimping, and making reliable electrical connections within transformer and power distribution assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation accurately.
  • Experience performing electrical continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, mechanical inspections, and functional testing on power infrastructure equipment.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical issues, including root cause identification and performing repair or rework.
  • Familiarity with mission-critical power systems in hyperscale data center environments and an understanding of facility operations for critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of IPC-620 standards and electrical cable/harness assembly practices.
  • Comfort working with equipment and cabling up to 480V, following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume production environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience performing electrical testing, commissioning support, or acceptance testing of power infrastructure equipment.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data center environments and mission-critical facility operations.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Electrical trade school education, military electrical experience, or equivalent technical training is a plus.
  • Experience in field service, installation, and repair of electrical distribution or transformer equipment is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers and production teams and provide constructive feedback on processes.
  • Ability to train and mentor other technicians on assembly procedures, workmanship standards, and testing methodologies.
