Job summary

Transdev is hiring a Technician in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The role involves supervising maintenance staff, scheduling work, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of heavy-duty equipment. The candidate must meet minimum education and experience requirements and be able to travel minimally.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
  • 7+ years of repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty automotive and transit equipment.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Broad understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy‑duty transportation vehicles.
  • Familiarity with laws & regulations for safe operation of maintenance facilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Available to work shifts and flexible schedules as needed.
  • Travel requirement: < 5% for occasional meetings.
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing per 49 CFR Part 40.

Responsibilities

  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate Maintenance Technicians.
  • Schedule Maintenance Technicians.
  • Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on materials and parts availability and scheduled operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Implement safety policies and procedures for the department per corporate requirements.
  • Participate in development and administration of the operational budget.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Available to work shifts and flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Travel requirement (as a percent): < 5% for occasional meetings
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ninety (90) percent of work is accomplished indoors and in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
  • Ten (10) percent of work is accomplished in an open-garage facility/outdoors.
  • Will be required to lift packages of up to 50 pounds.
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion; and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
