Job summary

Transdev in Rockville, MD is seeking a Lead Diesel Technician to supervise and coordinate a diesel technician team, ensuring safe, timely diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs of diesel vehicles and equipment.

The role requires at least 5 years of diesel experience with Master ASE Certification, strong leadership, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; DOT work eligibility applies. Competitive benefits and ASE training are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel technician with proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
  • Must be Master ASE Certified.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing per 49 CFR Part 40.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prioritize the workload of the diesel technician team, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in diesel vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies to support maintenance while minimizing waste.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and related components per manufacturer specifications.
  • Coach and monitor team members.

Lead Technician

Transdev in Rockville, MD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Diesel Technician to join our team. The Lead Diesel Technician will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of our diesel technician team, ensuring the timely and efficient diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel vehicles and equipment. As a Lead Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $25.00 – Maximum $42.00

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and prioritize the workload of the diesel technician team, assigning tasks and ensuring that all work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in diesel vehicles and equipment.

  • Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance and repair activities while minimizing waste and excess inventory.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

  • Coach and monitor members of the work team.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel technician, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.

  • Must be Master ASE Certified

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.


Physical Requirements:


  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.

  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces

  • Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level

  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
