Job summary

Prove is seeking a part-time remote Technical Writer to join our Product team. In a docs-as-code environment, you will own Solution documentation, refine AI-generated content, and collaborate with engineers and product owners to keep guides accurate as our platform evolves.

You'll review AI-drafted how-to guides, maintain the changelog, and ensure terminology consistency across REST APIs, OpenAPI specs, and MDX components.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience or strong interest in technical writing.
• Familiarity with REST API request/response payloads, status codes and errors.
• Basic familiarity with Git workflows (branching, commits, PRs).
• Markdown fluency and willingness to learn MDX components.
• Care for precision: consistent terminology and accurate field names.
• Ability to interview engineers and translate input into up-to-date docs.
• Self-directed in a part-time, remote, largely asynchronous role.

Responsibilities

• Review and refine AI-generated documentation for releases, ensuring technical accuracy for Solutions.
• Optimize Integration guides and tutorials; validate with product owners, engineers, and SMEs.

Title: Technical Writer (Contract)

About this role:

You’ll work in a docs-as-code environment to keep Prove’s technical and product documentation accurate as our Solutions and Platform evolve. You’ll take ownership of Solution documentation in a hands‑on role, backed by a supportive, collaborative team.

Day-to-day, you’ll help the team;

• Review and refine AI‑generated documentation for releases, ensuring technical accuracy for Solutions.
• Optimize Integration guides and tutorials. Review AI‑drafted how‑to guides and validate technical accuracy by meeting regularly with product owners, engineers, and SMEs, leveraging OpenAPI specs to ensure content is fully optimized for developers.
• Maintain the changelog. Review and polish AI‑generated customer release notes to ensure clear, accurate communication about changes, affected users, and key benefits.
• Serve as coverage and backup for the lead technical writer, ensuring business continuity for key operational processes, stakeholder inquiries, and office hours across Solutions.

What we’re looking for:

Required

• 2+ years of experience or strong interest in technical writing.
• Familiarity with REST API request and response payloads, status codes, and error responses.
• Basic familiarity with Git workflows (branching, committing, pull requests).
• Markdown fluency, and willingness to learn MDX components.
• Care for precision: consistent terminology, correct field names, no invented behavior.
• Proven ability to interview engineers and turn their input into accurate, up‑to‑date documentation
• Self‑direction in a part‑time, remote, largely asynchronous role.

Helpful, but not required:

• Experience in a technical support, QA, or engineering role is a plus.

The anticipated compensation for this role is: $60 - 75/h

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, geo‑location and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Prove follows a market driven compensation philosophy based on geographic location and respective market rates. Job offers will be aligned to location.

Prove defines:

• Metro 2 - NYC metro area, Seattle metro area, Los Angeles metro area, and the Miami metro area.
• Metro 3 - all other cities across the domestic United States, with the exception of the San Francisco Bay Area.
