A Technical Writer III is needed to support documentation efforts related to business process changes stemming from technology modernization initiatives. This position is responsible for developing detailed worker procedures, updating instructional manuals, and creating informational brochures using plain language to ensure clarity and accessibility.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience writing technical policies and procedures and translating complex information into plain language—ideally within the insurance or employee benefits administration sector. Strong collaboration skills, independent time management, and sound judgment are essential. Additional qualifications include:
- Ability to develop text and visual representations for large volumes of complex procedures in line with organizational standards.
- Experience writing user-friendly content tailored to specific audience needs.
- Ability to maintain and update technical documentation.
- Skilled in creating content to educate users with varying levels of subject matter knowledge.
- Experience organizing and curating information into usable reference materials.
- Capable of evaluating existing documentation and identifying areas for improvement.
What We’re Looking For
A professional with at least five years of experience in insurance, employee benefits administration, or a related field. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to gather information, reviewing screens, process flows, and data flows in multiple systems, and independently developing high-quality instructional content, such as manuals and brochures, written in plain language.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a technical writer creating documentation and procedural materials for varied audiences
Preferred Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to quickly understand complex topics and present them clearly using text, visuals, and diagrams
- Experience reviewing and editing content created by others and working within cross-functional teams
