Job summary

AttainX, Inc. seeks a Technical Writer II to support DHS/CISA’s CICP. You will create, edit, and publish manuals and user materials, translating complex technical updates into clear content for leadership and end users.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineers and analysts, adherence to Section 508 and branding standards, and maintaining publication workflows within a DHS contract framework. Remote/hybrid with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in technical communication, English, IT, or related field preferred.
• 2-4 years of related experience in technical writing or similar role.
• Experience creating, editing, and publishing technical documentation and user materials.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Experience organizing content and coordinating publication layouts using document tools.
• Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility and plain language standards.
• Familiarity with documentation repositories, version control, and review workflows.
• Excellent writing, editing, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and incorporate feedback.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, maintain, and publish technical documentation and manuals describing CICP applications, processes, features, and system changes.
• Collect and interpret technical data from developers, engineers, and subject matter experts; verify content accuracy and close gaps.
• Coordinate document structure, layout, illustrations, and publication formats for clarity and usability.
• Translate technical updates into concise executive summaries, reports, and stakeholder communications.
• Develop user guides, onboarding materials, FAQs, and training documentation to support adoption of new tech and workflows.
• Document transformation planning, milestones, and post-implementation reviews; maintain activity logs.
• Collaborate with technical and service-experience teams to document integrations and interface changes.
• Adhere to Federal, DHS, and CISA documentation standards including Section 508 and branding requirements.
• Maintain revision histories and coordinate reviews and publication through established processes.
• Gather stakeholder feedback and improve content clarity and usability.
• Support reporting on transformation success measures and KPIs; document metrics and lessons learned.
• Support documentation automation and approved workflows, including ALM tools; ensure accuracy and proper handling of information.
• Coordinate drafts with manager, track assignments and deadlines, and support training delivery.
• Protect sensitive information and ensure appropriate access before publication.
