Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego seeks a technical writer to develop ship-specific manuals from engineering data, ensuring contract compliance and alignment with Logistics Support Information.

You will collaborate with ILS provisioning, vendors, and customers to review, format, and validate manuals, and support ad hoc documentation projects. A Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field and strong English, Office/PDF skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications/English or a technical discipline.
  • Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics and related documents.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills; ability to translate complex content clearly.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary and final technical manuals per standards with supervision.
  • Review equipment manuals for content and format against contract requirements.
  • Prepare review comments on manuals using standardized forms.
  • Support senior staff and supervision in resolving technical issues with customers and regulators.
  • Contribute to ad hoc documentation projects and maintain team collaboration.
