Saalex Corporation is seeking a Technical Writer I for locations in Tidewater, VA and San Diego, CA. The role focuses on developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for IT, cybersecurity, and engineering operations within global LVC environments.

Requirements include 1–3 years in technical writing or related fields, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, and experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Experience creating and editing technical documentation in a structured environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including system manuals and SOPs.
• Translate complex concepts into clear, user-friendly docs for technical and non-tech audiences.
• Ensure docs comply with DoD, Navy, and program standards, including configuration control.
• Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program staff to validate content.
• Support documentation for RMF packages, system configurations, and procedures.
• Maintain document version control and assist audits, reviews, and updates.

Salary:$60k-$105k (depending on experience)

The Technical Writer I supports the Navy by developing, editing, andmaintainingtechnical documentation in support of IT, cybersecurity, and engineering operations within global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments.

Essential Functions:

• Develop, edit, andmaintaintechnical documentation including system manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ensure documentationcomplies withDoD, Navy, and program standards, including formatting and configuration control requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program staff to gather andvalidatetechnical content.
• Support documentation for RMF packages, system configurations, and operational procedures.
• Maintaindocument version control and support audits, reviews, and updates.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Required:

• 1–3 years of experience in technical writing, communications, IT, or relatedfield.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience creating and editing technical documentation in a structured environment.
• Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g.,Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat).

Desired:

• Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs.
• Familiarity with configuration management and document control processes.
• Experience supporting RMF documentation, system engineering documentation, or IT service documentation.

Additional Qualifications:

• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple documentation efforts simultaneously.

Security Clearance:

• Must be eligible to obtain a Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance. Active clearances preferred. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
