Job summary

CPI is seeking an experienced Technical Writer with high-voltage systems experience to support technical publications for advanced military and commercial vehicle and equipment programs. Qualifications

• High-voltage vehicle or equipment systems experience is required.
• Technical writing experience supporting complex mechanical, electrical, or vehicle systems.
• Arbortext experience strongly preferred; XML/SGML authoring knowledge is valuable.
• Familiarity with IETMs, S1000D, or military technical publications is a plus.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and related technical data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise technical manuals and service information for vehicle and equipment systems.
• Create maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and operating procedures.
• Translate engineering information into clear technical content for technicians and operators.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, CAD/3D data, parts information, and engineering changes.
• Develop structured technical content using Arbortext and XML/SGML.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to validate procedures.
• Support technical illustrations and source material using Teamcenter.
• Participate in technical publication validation and verification activities.
• Ensure documentation complies with customer and military standards.

About the Role

This role requires more than general technical writing experience. Candidates should have a strong technical background working with high-voltage vehicle or equipment systems and experience developing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and service documentation.

What You'll Do

• Develop and revise technical manuals and service information for vehicle and equipment systems
• Create maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and operating procedures
• Translate engineering information into clear technical content for technicians, maintainers, and operators
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, CAD/3D data, parts information, and engineering changes
• Develop structured technical content using Arbortext and XML/SGML
• Work with engineering and technical teams to research and validate procedures
• Support technical illustrations and source material using Teamcenter
• Participate in technical publication validation and verification activities
• Ensure documentation complies with applicable customer and military technical-publication requirements

Key Qualifications

• High-voltage vehicle or equipment systems experience required
• Technical writing experience supporting complex mechanical, electrical, or vehicle systems
• Arbortext experience strongly preferred
• Experience with XML/SGML structured authoring
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical/wiring schematics, and technical data
• Experience with Teamcenter, Adobe/Acrobat, Microsoft Visio, and MATH is highly desirable
• Familiarity with IETMs, S1000D, military technical publications, or similar standards preferred
• Experience with validation/verification of technical procedures preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams
