Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Technical Writer in Houston, TX for a 6+ month contract, onsite. You will work with R&D and Support engineers to publish materials for new/upgraded medical devices, develop deep knowledge of device subsystems, and ensure clear English documentation for global distribution.

Responsibilities include collaborating with fellow writers, supporting newsletters, and ensuring quality requirements and deadlines are met.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in technical publications.
• Experience in technical publications for electronic equipment.
• Experience in the creation of documents for print and digital media.
• Proficiency with document creation tools such as Adobe, Flare, and Oxygen.

Responsibilities

• Create and publish materials for release of new and/or upgraded Alcon medical devices.
• Develop engineering-level knowledge of Alcon medical devices and their subsystems.
• Attend to technical publication customer needs and deliver accordingly.
• Publish detailed technical materials in clear English for global distribution and quality compliance.
• Collaborate with other technical writers on documentation.
• Assist with monthly technical newsletters and other business documents.

Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Houston, TX – 5 days onsite

Contract Length: 6+ Months contract with possible extension.

Job Description:

Work with R&D Engineers, Technical Support Engineers, and other stakeholders to create and publish the materials needed for release of new and/or upgrade of Alcon medical devices.

Develop engineering-level knowledge of Alcon medical devices down to their electrical and mechanical subsystems.

Develop in-depth knowledge of technical publication customer needs and attend to them.

Create and publish detailed technical materials in well-written, precise, and clear English for global distribution and meet Alcon quality requirements.

Work with other technical writers, when required, to create technical documentation.

Help with the creation of our monthly technical newsletter and other documents per business needs.

Minimum

• :5 years of relevant experience
