Job summary

Textron Systems, part of Textron, is seeking a Technical Writer for the Sea Systems area in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The role focuses on producing installation, operation, and maintenance manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals for military and commercial customers.

Responsibilities include analyzing engineering data, developing operation instructions, and coordinating with various groups to ensure accuracy and timely publication. A Secret security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred or minimum 2–4 years of equivalent work experience.
• 0–2 years of technical writing experience.
• Experience developing installation, operation and maintenance procedures.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Must be a self-starter and able to take initiative.
• Ability to gather, analyze and summarize data to develop appropriate actions.
• Ability to interact with Program Management, Systems Engineering, LPD, and Training to ensure stakeholder input.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of engineering data and drawings to gather information for Technical Manuals and IETMs.
• Develop theory of operation, operating and maintenance instructions, and wiring lists.
• Complete edits for compliance with specs, standards, and timelines.
• Participate in IPT meetings and review conferences with internal/external customers.
• Support reviews and validation events, ensuring accuracy before publication.
