Position Overview
The team is seeking a Technical Writer / Business Analyst to support ongoing enterprise technology implementation and integration initiatives.
This is a hybrid role combining technical documentation, business analysis, requirements gathering, implementation coordination, process improvement, and Agile/Scrum support. This is not a traditional Technical Writer position focused solely on creating documentation.
The ideal candidate will be technically savvy, highly organized, proactive, and an exceptional communicator who can work directly with engineers to understand complex technical concepts, ask the right questions, document requirements and processes, and translate technical information into clear, practical documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This individual will help bridge the gap between engineering teams, business stakeholders, and other technology groups, while bringing greater structure and consistency to documentation and implementation processes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation
- Develop, maintain, and standardize comprehensive technical and operational documentation.
- Create process flows, procedures, integration guides, escalation workflows, implementation documentation, and technical best practices.
- Build and maintain centralized repositories documenting applications, systems, integrations, and day-to-day operational processes.
- Translate complex engineering and technical information into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop standardized documentation and processes for implementing and supporting technology solutions.
- Create workflow diagrams, process maps, flowcharts, and other visual documentation to improve understanding of complex processes.
- Partner directly with engineers and technology teams to extract technical information rather than relying solely on existing documentation.
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Work closely with engineers, technical teams, and business stakeholders to gather and document business, functional, technical, and integration requirements.
- Facilitate discussions between engineering teams, business units, and other IT organizations.
- Analyze existing processes and perform gap analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Document current-state and future-state processes.
- Translate technical requirements into documentation that can be understood across technical and business teams.
- Document system integrations and technical requirements involving APIs, JSON, XML, configurations, and system-to-system communication.
- Understand how applications and infrastructure components interact across complex enterprise environments.
- Support backlog organization, requirements clarification, and prioritization activities.
- Identify missing information, dependencies, risks, and process gaps and proactively work with stakeholders to resolve them.
Technology Implementation Support
- Support technology implementation and integration initiatives across multiple business units and technology teams.
- Coordinate activities between engineering teams responsible for different platforms, systems, and infrastructure environments.
- Help document and organize implementation plans, integration requirements, dependencies, workflows, and operational procedures.
- Track implementation activities, deliverables, issues, and follow-up items.
- Facilitate technical discussions and ensure decisions, requirements, and next steps are clearly documented.
- Help drive adoption and consistency of new technology processes across the organization.
- Provide structure and visibility across complex implementation efforts involving multiple stakeholders.
Agile / Scrum & Project Coordination
- Support engineering teams with backlog management, work tracking, prioritization, and follow-up activities.
- Help coordinate ongoing engineering deliverables and implementation activities.
- Facilitate meetings and discussions as needed between technical and business teams.
- Apply working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and SDLC methodologies when supporting technology initiatives.
- Help ensure action items, dependencies, requirements, and deliverables do not fall through the cracks.
- Scrum Master experience is highly desirable, although Scrum certification is not required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in a hybrid capacity involving Technical Writing, Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, Implementation Coordination, or similar technology-focused responsibilities.
- Strong technical documentation experience, including:
- Technical procedures
- Process flows and workflow diagrams
- Integration documentation
- Business and technical requirements
- Implementation guides
- Escalation procedures
- Operational documentation
