Adventure Technology Services is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Annapolis Junction team. The role supports operations documentation, user guides, and training manuals for a cross-functional AWS team.

A TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required, with salary in the $75k–$95k range. The position emphasizes collaboration with engineers and SMEs to capture technical details, produce high-quality publications, and deliver clear, structured material for diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with six years of experience, or a high school diploma and 10 years of experience.
• Experience with Confluence, Jira and SharePoint.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and SMEs to produce clear documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, training manuals, and technical publications.
• Apply grammar and technical writing concepts to author clear, structured copy from engineering drawings and consultations with engineers/SMEs.
• Prepare reports, responses, customer communications, briefings, and presentations for diverse audiences.
• Partner with developers, engineers, and system owners to gather technical information and produce quality documentation and end-user training materials.

Role/Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, training manuals, and technical publications. Maintain a current internal documentation library for an AWS cross functional team.
• Apply basic grammar and technical writing concepts to author clear, structured copy based on engineering drawings, technical documents, and consultations with engineers/SMEs.
• Prepare clear reports, responses, customer communications, briefings, and presentations targeted to a wide range of audiences.
• Partner directly with developers, engineers, and system owners to gather technical information and produce quality documentation, analytic tradecraft methodologies, and end-user training materials.
• Assisting the operational project lead with daily functions Education & Related Experience: Bachelor's degree with six years of experience, or a high school diploma and 10 years of experience. Requirements

40 hours is the standard workweek. Some programs may allow additional hours to be worked as needed. A limited number of programs have on-call requirements where compensation is provided for being engaged to wait. In all circumstances, technical employees will be paid for all time worked.

BONUS STATEMENT: All billable employees are eligible to earn quarterly bonuses that are based on the number of hours worked for that period. This hourly requirement is roughly 92% of hours available to bill in a given quarter. Quarterly Hours Bonuses are paid out on the same payroll as the time worked in that prior quarter (typically 21 days after the quarter ends).
