Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Technical Writer to build and maintain an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across US operations. You will transform how teams work into auditable, compliant documentation—policies, procedures, and work instructions that auditors will accept.

You will develop QMS documents, interview process owners, align to ISO clauses, and coordinate translations when needed. This role supports audits and continuous improvement within a mission-driven clean energy company.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in quality, operations, or industrial/energy environments.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and documented information expectations.
• Strong proficiency in developing Process Workflows, Policies, Procedures, SOPs, and Forms for ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, Planner) and AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini).
• Experience with document control systems (SharePoint, Confluence).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate complex processes into clear, usable instructions.
• Ability to work independently with process owners at different levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain QMS documents: quality policy, manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, and templates.
• Interview process owners to capture real workflows.
• Align documents to ISO 9001:2015 clauses (4-10), including documented information requirements (clause 7.5).
• Produce bilingual (English/Spanish) documents where needed, or coordinate translation and review.
• Support internal audits, management reviews, and external certification or surveillance audits by supplying records and answering documentation questions.
• Standardize document formats, style, and terminology across sites.
• Build visual aids such as flowcharts, process maps, and checklists.

Job Title: Technical Writer - ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Technical Writer, with 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) and operations. This is a full-time position supporting the build-out of a unified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across ON.energy’s US operations.

In this role, you will turn how our teams actually work into clear, auditable, compliant documentation - policies, procedures, and work instructions that people will use and that certification auditors will accept. The primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining QMS documents and aligning them to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in quality, operations, or industrial/energy environments
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and documented information expectations
• Strong proficiency and proven experience in Technical Writing for developing Process Workflows, Policies, Procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and Forms for an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
• Strong proficiency with key Microsoft platforms (e.g. Excel, Word, Viso, Planner) and AI platforms (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini)
• Experience with document control systems (e.g. SharePoint, Confluence)
• Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail

• Ability to manage several documentation projects and deadlines at once
