Job summary

Qualifications

  • Maintain compliance per training matrix.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Completion of soft skills training (communication, teamwork, conflict resolution).
  • Familiarity with industry practices, standards and terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver training to rig crews using multiple instructional methods including simulator-based, classroom, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Update training materials to align with latest industry standards and procedures.
  • Provide hands-on training and field observations to ensure competency.
  • Maintain accurate LMS training records; schedule classes and manage course logistics.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative learning environment with trainees and peers.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting techniques to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
  • Apply sound cost control practices during training delivery and travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Training Supervisor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4 years experience as technician or 3 years of experience as a Technical Trainer or equivalent for another drilling company.
  • Preferred experience as a floor hand with motors.
  • IWCF, IADC, Taproot or additional accreditation.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred bilingual speaker.

  • Training Needs Assessment & Program Development: Ability to assess skill gaps and develop training plans and courses that are aligned with business goals and workforce requirements.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring regulatory adherence and minimizing risk exposure.
    Operational Knowledge: Possesses a competent understanding of rig equipment, rigging procedures, and company operating standards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Able to stand or stand and walk throughout the tour while wearing steel toed boots. Occasionally climb steep stairs and walking on steel decking as well as gravel, board roads and area that can be covered in drilling fluids, mud, snow and ice.
  • Must be able to stand or stand and walk for a minimum of 2 hours at any one time without the ability to sit or otherwise get off his / her feet.
  • Must be able to maintain a variety of postures including stooping, squatting, kneeling or crawling.
  • Must be able to repetitively climb stairs and ladders as well as be able to lift and carry items weighing upwards of 35 lbs.
