Job summary

Nabors is seeking an experienced field service technician to service and maintain customer equipment. You will travel to client locations, install new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues, and provide training on company equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (or related trade training) and English fluency. Strong problem solving, math, and computer skills are needed, along with the ability to read schematics and work safely on site.

TECHNICAL COMPENTENCIES
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Able to troubleshoot equipment
  • Able to use process meters and micrometers
  • Knowledge of OEM drilling equipment and ability to make repairs
  • Electrical (up to 600V) and Hydraulic/Mechanical knowledge
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Walking or standing for long periods of time
  • Bending or stooping
  • Climbing stairs and/or ladders
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Use of hand tools
  • Operating a vehicle
Responsibilities
  • Performs installations, maintenance, and repair of Company manufactured drilling equipment to include, Top Drive and components, Powered Catwalk and components, Hydraulic Wrench and components. Electrical systems integration, and troubleshooting of complete Top Drive, Catwalk and Hydraulic Wrench systems, as well as supervise and train less experienced technicians.
  • Demonstrates ability to reading and understanding equipment schematics and drawings.
  • Advanced understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical equipment, functions and testing.
  • Assists higher level Technicians, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Schedules and monitor workflow for continuing daily progress. Inspects all equipment used and perform preventative maintenance checks and service and notify Supervisors of required repairs.
  • Provides equipment parts descriptions and parts numbers to Customer and Part Sales Department.
  • Promotes a safe and quality environment in which to work.
  • Works overtime as required to meet customer drilling schedules and project deadlines.
  • Measures and record technical data as tasks are completed, inspect documentation prior to job closure.
  • Performs repairs using torque wrenches and measuring tools.
  • Assist in trouble shooting using multi meters, amp probes, meggers and scopes.
  • Travels to customer locations domestically and possibly international assignments.
  • Troubleshoots and repair or overhaul drilling equipment to include traction motor alignments, main bearing end play verifications, and back lash and gearing verifications
  • Provides shop technical experience and techniques to other areas of the company as needed.
  • Follows policies and procedures. Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time. Maintain and complete documentation including detailed Service and Expense Reports in a professional and timely manner.
  • Visits drilling rigs operating within the Technician's geographic regions and converse with Customer Representatives.
  • Seeks opportunities to install additional systems on new rigs and to upgrade, or add-on new equipment.
  • Complies with and participates in company safety, reporting, and quality programs
  • Maintains company issued vehicles and tools. Demonstrates knowledge and skill set required to properly use the tools.
  • Attends all Canrig required scheduled training classes and responsible for maintaining certifications current.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.
