Job summary

OP Agency is seeking an Academy Technical Trainer (Consultant) for the Northeast Region USA to deliver advanced automotive training, focusing on performance systems, diagnostics, and safety with a strong emphasis on high-voltage technology. Engage internal teams, dealerships, and service partners with practical, engaging instruction.

You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to update curricula, manage calendars, and ensure learners meet objectives while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on automotive experience in diagnostics, repair and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of performance vehicle systems, components, and technologies.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing high-voltage systems, including hybrid and electric vehicle technologies.
• Strong understanding of automotive diagnostic and repair processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver in-person and virtual training on performance vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair processes.
• Coordinate training schedules and rosters, ensuring events run efficiently.
• Identify knowledge gaps and align programs with business objectives.
• Evaluate learner progress and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with SMEs to develop curricula and materials.
• Partner with Service, Engineering and Product teams on updates.
• Pursue ongoing learning and certifications; ASE is a plus.
• Train on proper use and calibration of diagnostic tools.
• Serve as a technical resource for Help Desk and Technical teams.
• Assist Academy Manager and occasionally deliver internal training.
• Travel less than 10% for off-site events.

Contract Position - Luxury Automotive - Internal Training Academy

Our luxury automotive client is seeking an experienced Academy Technical Trainer to join its internal Training Academy in the Northeast Region.

This is an opportunity to work alongside an international team focused on engineering excellence, innovation, performance, and continuous development.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will deliver technical training focused on performance vehicle systems, diagnostics, repair processes, and advanced technology integration.

You will educate internal teams, external partners, dealerships, and service providers on a broad range of vehicle systems, including high-voltage systems and associated safety protocols.

The ideal candidate brings significant hands-on automotive experience, a strong understanding of performance vehicle technologies, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into engaging, practical learning experiences.

What You'll Do

• Deliver Technical Training: Conduct engaging, high-quality in-person and virtual training covering performance vehicle systems, diagnostics, repair processes, high-voltage systems, and safety protocols.
• Manage the Training Calendar: Coordinate training schedules and course rosters, ensuring training events are delivered efficiently and participants remain engaged.
• Conduct Training Needs Analysis: Identify knowledge gaps and training needs across teams, departments, dealerships, and the broader network, aligning programs with business objectives and industry developments.
• Assess Learner Performance: Evaluate learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and ensure participants achieve learning objectives and develop the required technical skills.
• Develop Training Content: Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and update curricula, instructional materials, and technical content based on learner feedback and evolving vehicle technologies.
• Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with Service, Engineering, Product, and other teams to stay current on product updates and technological advancements that may impact training requirements.
• Maintain Technical Knowledge & Certifications: Continuously develop your technical expertise through ongoing learning, corporate or local certification programs, and awareness of industry trends. ASE certification is a plus.
• Support Specialty Tools & Equipment: Train participants on the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of specialty tools and equipment used for vehicle diagnostics and repair.
• Provide Technical Support: Serve as a technical resource for Help Desk and Technical teams, providing guidance on technical issues, repair procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Support Academy Operations: Assist the Academy Manager with Academy activities, special projects, and other initiatives. You may also occasionally deliver internal technical or product training to staff and management.
• Travel as Needed: Support occasional off-site training events and dealer visits. Travel is typically less than 10% and may occasionally require short-notice arrangements.

What We're Looking For

Technical Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on automotive experience in diagnostics, repair and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of performance vehicle systems, components, and technologies.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing high-voltage systems, including hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, is essential.
• Strong understanding of automotive diagnostic and repair processes.

Training & Communication

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and practical training.
• Previous experience in a formal training, technical instruction, or instructional design role is a plus.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) is a plus.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Comfortable adapting training approaches and materials as technology and business needs evolve.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Degree in a relevant technical field such as Automotive Technology or Engineering is a plus, but not required.
• ASE Master Technician or other relevant industry certifications are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated commitment to technical excellence, quality, integrity, and continuous development.
