Responsibilities of Technical Theater Director:

• Teach multiple sections of upper school technical theater courses, including scenic, lighting, and sound design.
• Design and implement a training program to grow the student technical production team, including backstage crew, sound and lighting board operators, and spotlight operators.
• Serve as lead scenic and lighting designer for multiple school productions per year.
• Manage set-up and maintenance of sound, lighting, and AV equipment for school events.
• Collaborate with students and faculty to produce dance, music, and theater productions.
• Oversee the installation of sets, lighting, and technical elements for performances and events.
• Supervise and mentor students in technical theater disciplines, including set construction, lighting design, sound, and stage management.

Requirements of Technical Theater Director:

• Bachelor's degree in Theater, Education, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Previous experience with set design, sound, lighting, and/or stage management required.
• Previous K-12 theater teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of technical theater, theater equipment, and best practices.
• Ability to build sets for theater productions.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Interest to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, or student club leader.
