Job description

Zupt, LLC (www.zupt.com) is based in NW Houston and is a privately owned company that develops surveying and positioning technology for the offshore energy sector. We have over 20 years of experience delivering complex offshore positioning, metrology, and survey solutions to energy clients around the world. We are a small, highly technical company of approximately 25 highly skilled employees where every employee plays a significant role in project success.

Position Overview

This Technical Survey Professional role is a full-time, office-based position in Houston supporting offshore survey and metrology projects worldwide. The successful candidate will plan and execute survey-related engineering activities, prepare technical documentation, support live offshore operations from onshore, analyze survey data, and work directly with clients and project teams to ensure successful project delivery. This role is ideal for an experienced offshore survey professional looking to apply their operational expertise in an engineering and project support environment with limited travel.

Salary Range

$100,000 – $130,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and offshore survey expertise, plus benefits.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan and support offshore survey, positioning, and metrology projects.
  • Prepare survey procedures, task plans, execution plans, and technical reports.
  • Process and analyze survey and QA/QC data during active operations.
  • Support offshore operations from the Houston office with real-time technical assistance.
  • Interface directly with clients to discuss technical requirements and project execution.
  • Prepare JSAs, Gantt charts, and project documentation.
  • Participate in metrology tooling design reviews and ensure tooling is fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate procurement of survey tooling and monitor subcontractor deliveries.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical mentoring and training to survey personnel as required.
  • Maintain compliance with company QMS and HSE procedures.
Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five years of offshore survey, metrology, or survey engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of GNSS, USBL/LBL positioning, hydrographic/site surveys, rig moves, photogrammetry, and metrology.
  • Experience writing technical procedures, reports, and project documentation.
  • Hands-on offshore survey or metrology experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar CAD software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
