The goal of this team is to reduce / minimize damage and the impact of damage for Data Center hardware. This includes inspection, testing, and repair of critical components to ensure cutting-edge Data Center hardware is reliable and maintained in the Data Center environment.
Overall Responsibilities:
This role is a quality assurance position with a primary focus to monitor and reduce damage to data center hardware parts.
- Assist the site leadership in efforts to reduce damage at each DC. This involves spot checks of process staging areas for proper handling, packaging, and storage of parts.
- Assist in executing the damaged parts process at the datacenter, verifying and quarantining damaged parts to prevent mixing with good products.
- Identify and escalate issues affecting part damage.
- Provide support for key field campaigns and failure investigations (Excursion Support).
Top Daily Responsibilities:
- Perform DIMM testing for diagnostics and Post Package Repair (PPR).
- Conduct special damage inspections and repairs of critical parts.
- Perform quick testing of printed circuit boards (approx. 100 boards/week) for re-inventory.
- Verify damage reports on parts, inspecting up to 100 parts weekly to confirm damage.
- Repair damaged parts as needed.
- Clean thermal paste from CPUs.
- Periodically audit handling, ESD processes, and packing at Data Centers.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
- At least 3+ years of experience in a technical field.
- Knowledge of electronic parts used in Data Center hardware (e.g., Motherboards, DIMMs, Hard Drives, network cards, optics).
- First-level failure analysis (FA) skills for electronic parts.
- Familiarity with mechanical defects in electronic components and hardware.
- Ability to sit for extended periods performing detailed inspections.
- Experience with inspection equipment like stereo microscopes and ring lights.
- Proficiency in using PCs for data recording and reporting.
- Ability to write process instructions and SOPs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with and influence others.
- Physical strength for handling medium to heavy materials (lifting, pushing, pulling).
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Background in Quality Assurance within electronics.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing servers, storage, or networking products.
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.
