Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a seasoned quality engineer for the Craftsmanship team to drive appearance approval and PPAP processes across Lucid Air programs. You will review interior/exterior parts, document visual issues, and collaborate with suppliers and engineers to resolve defects.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in automotive quality, strong color evaluation skills, and experience with cross-functional teams, reporting, and MS Office. On-site role with growth into leadership.

Body Engineering is looking for a highly motivated individual to work within the Craftsmanship team supporting and driving Design Quality activities related to appearance approval which is part of the PPAP process.

Role
  • Have a good understanding of the Lucid Air for all customer facing parts for the Interior and Exterior
  • Review molded parts pre-grain to ensure that the quality of the mold is acceptable to KO grain
  • Provide visual documentation of issues related to mold prior to grain approval and work with supplier / engineer to address issues found
  • Review and validate the Pre Grain Approval Sheet from supplier and sign off document to start graining of tool
  • Co-ordinate with SQE for shipment of pre-grain and AAR parts to Lucid for review
  • Assess all AAR parts (wrapped, painted, chrome, MIC) to ensure that parts are meeting visual targets and are dimensionally stable to support sign off for PPAP
  • Maintain a record of all parts that have been submitted for grain approval and AAR
  • Provide visual documentation of issues related to AAR parts and work with supplier / engineer to address issues found
  • Support on site at supplier to help route cause issues as needed working with SQE and supplier quality teams
  • Work with the Craftsmanship Lab Technician to arrange for cataloged storage of AAR parts for future reference
  • Support the CMF team to validate colour matching of masters and parts
  • Immediate need will be to complete AAR on Lucid Air but will require ongoing support on future programs.
  • Manage and or mentor more junior colleagues
Qualifications
  • Generally, required 8+ years of related experience
  • Automotive experience
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and hands-on quality engineering experience
  • Strong Experience in Visual quality and color evaluation (candidate needs to have the ability to see colors and the color variations)
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results
  • Experience with report writing and time management
  • Experience with MS Office
Advantageous
  • Experience managing a team a plus
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive processes related to job
  • Proven numeracy and literacy skills, good logical reasoning, and ability to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
  • Demonstrated capability of supporting complex projectsMust be self-motivated
  • Understanding of roles and needs of different client groups
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design Engineering or a related field.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual) $166,500—$244,200 USD

Compensation & Benefits

Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a401(k) retirementplan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, aredeterminedbased on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance withthe terms of the applicable plans.
