Job summary

Knox College invites applications for a Technical Services Coordinator at Caven Library. The role leads acquisitions, cataloguing, processing, and maintenance of resources, and supports public services while supervising student assistants.

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, you will collaborate with UTL partners and vendors, manage archives, and ensure accurate metadata and efficient operations across the library.

Qualifications

• Library Technician diploma or a higher library credential.
• Undergraduate degree in the humanities, preferably in religious studies or theological studies.
• At least two years of experience in a library technical services environment.
• Demonstrated cataloguing experience with an integrated library system such as Alma.
• Knowledge and practical experience with RDA, LCSH, LCC, MARC, OCLC, and online authority control.
• Knowledge of archival procedures and experience with reference techniques and customer service.
• Strong computer, communication, supervisory, project-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexibly with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities, and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Acquire, process, and manage print and electronic resources, including serials and finances.
• Create, verify, and edit bibliographic and holdings records for discoverability.
• Maintain catalogue integrity and update locations for withdrawn materials.
• Coordinate inventory, shelving, and archival treatment of materials.
• Provide circulation coverage and assist classes with research needs.
• Supervise two to three student library assistants and support library operations.
• Serve as deputy to the Director of Library Services in their absence.
