Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Technical Services Engineer in Dublin for a dedicated Tuesday through Saturday shift. The role supports our hybrid working model and focuses on solving complex MongoDB problems for major customers and partners.

The candidate will handle architecture, performance, recovery, and security issues, while collaborating with product management and development teams to improve our products and services. A strong background in systems engineering and databases is essential.

Qualifications

  • Solid hands-on experience with systems engineering, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS).
  • Experience building and maintaining complex production database systems (RDBMS or NoSQL).
  • Basic coding or scripting ability in one or more languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.

Responsibilities

  • Work with large customers to resolve complex architecture, performance, recovery, and security issues.
  • Serve as an expert on MongoDB deployment and operations at scale.
  • Collaborate with product management and development teams to address customer needs.
  • Contribute to internal tooling for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Mentor new team members and expand knowledge of MongoDB product lines.
  • Engage with top ISV partners to ensure joint customer success.

We are looking for a Technical Services Engineer to join our team in Dublin for a dedicated Tuesday through Saturday shift.

About the Team

MongoDB Technical Services Engineers (TSEs) use their exceptional problem-solving and customer service skills, along with deep technical experience, to advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems. TSEs are experts in the entire MongoDB ecosystem, including the database server, drivers, and services like Atlas and Cloud Manager. Our engineers combine MongoDB expertise with passion, initiative, and teamwork to achieve exceptional results.

Cool Things You’ll Do
  • Work alongside our largest customers and partners to solve complex issues involving architecture, performance, recovery, and security
  • Serve as an expert resource on standard methodologies for running MongoDB at scale
  • Act as an advocate for customer and partner needs by collaborating with product management and development teams
  • Contribute to internal projects, such as the software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics
  • Mentor and ramp up new team members while building knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem
  • Work with top ISV partners to ensure excellence for joint customers
What You Need
  • Solid hands‑on experience with systems engineering, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, and troubleshooting
  • A strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS
  • Experience building and maintaining complex mission‑critical production database systems (RDBMS or NoSQL)
  • Basic coding or scripting ability in one or more languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting issues holistically, from the application tier through the database down to storage
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to think on your feet while remaining calm under pressure
  • A genuine desire to help people and a passion for rapidly learning new technical skills
Bonus Points
  • Experience using or managing MongoDB
  • Experience using cloud services stacks such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong understanding of authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, or Active Directory
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems using vendor‑specific Enterprise operators
  • Familiarity with distributed version control systems, particularly Git
  • Understanding of the GenAI landscape and technology companies in this space
Success Measures
  • In 3 months: You will have gained a deep understanding of MongoDB and its partner ecosystem and completed New Hire Training
  • In 6 months: You will be comfortable working frontline with customers and partners and will complete the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam
  • In 12 months: You will be a technical specialist within MongoDB, helping peer engineers with advanced diagnostics and handling technical escalations independently
