Technical Services Engineer

We are looking for a Technical Services Engineer to join our team. The Technical Service Engineer provides technical assistance to customers and maintains communication between both the plant production quality teams and sales teams within the Cement Segment. The role provides assistance to customers with cement, cementitious, concrete, and mortar issues. Establishes and maintains contact with production and industry associations, the architectural/engineering community, and the relevant specifying committees. Position involves travel as needed to meet with customers, attend business unit and district meetings, and attend industry events. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to all company policies, safety standards, and federal/state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive consultation to cement commercial group customers in the areas of product performance, best practices, technical information research, troubleshooting, and technical training.
  • Act as liaison between sales and production on plant quality teams.
  • Understand technical aspects of a customer’s products, systems, and applications.
  • Coordinate and facilitate competitive analyses for establishment and review of internal quality objectives.
  • Provide internal technical training and education to the cement commercial sales force, the cement and/or masonry customer base and industry personnel.
  • Active involvement in technical organizations such as ACI and ASTM, and various ready-mix concrete and precast/prestress organizations at local or regional level.
  • Proactively participate in promotion efforts relating to cement-based and related products in coordination with Sales team.
  • Provide technical assistance to any cement account that requires support for issues relating to concrete with cement.
  • Assist with resolution of customer product issues and maintain internal company records.
  • Act as a technical liaison as required with Regional Technical Directors, Concrete Labs, Sales, and Manufacturing facilities.
  • Keep up to date on product performance of internal products versus competitive products.
  • Assist with plant and terminal internal audits and improvements.
  • Participate in the resolution of long‑term product development and product issues.
  • Interact with architects, engineers and specifying agencies to promote and specify company products.
  • Develop relationships with DOTs and other specifiers.
  • Provide regular correspondence on product performance and customer results.
  • Identify and incorporate service and product improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee timely concrete testing program and sample management policy.
  • Rapidly identify product changes to Sales and Marketing.
  • Solid understanding of customer needs and operations leveraging Performance Innovations, and delivering customer solutions.
  • Continuous improvement of market and industry knowledge.
About You

We Require:

  • 5-10 years of experience in the construction industry, ideally cement or concrete materials.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager, Technical Services Engineer or Certified Concrete Technologist in the building materials industries.
  • Technical knowledge of concrete and other building materials with a clear understanding of industry standards and codes.
  • Proven incident and problem solving (troubleshooting) skills with an emphasis on timely resolution.
  • Excellent project management & problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to use data to develop insights and actions.
  • Ability to follow established process and procedures and ability to multi‑task and prioritize multiple projects at a time.
  • Interpersonal skills including building relationships, developing trust, and resolving conflict.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Presentation skills with the ability to communicate with leadership teams are preferred.
  • Ability to travel with minimal notice; travel requirement approximately 40%.
