Job summary
Amcor Flexibles North America Inc. is seeking a Technical Service Representative II to provide expert technical assistance on packaging equipment and materials.
The role requires 70% travel within the Cranberry Township, PA area, with additional travel across the Northeastern US, and up to 20% telecommuting. The ideal candidate has a technical associate degree and 5 years of packaging engineering/technical service experience, with hands-on skill in film construction and various packaging
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in packaging or related engineering field, and 5 years of experience.
- 5 years of experience in engineering or technical service in food packaging.
- 5 years of experience servicing packaging equipment including at least 7 types listed.
- 5 years of experience applying knowledge of film construction and formulation to resolve issues.
- 5 years of experience partnering with Process Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance and Product Development teams.
- 3 years of experience solving technical issues with film/bag production (Winding/Rewinding).
- 1 year of experience with Blown film, Bag Making and Pouch Making.
Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and timely technical assistance to customers on packaging equipment operations and improvements.
- Service customer equipment to maintain optimum performance of equipment, films and shrink bag materials.
- Perform and complete package/shrink bag and machine audits on packaging machines.
- Identify machinery and film problems and communicate to appropriate staff.
- Participate in field trials of new packaging materials.
- Assist in installation and start-up of Amcor equipment and related external supplier equipment.
- Train customers on operation/maintenance of equipment and Amcor film, and train others on customer training.

This position reports to company headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It requires living within 50 miles of Cranberry Township, PA, as the position will involve 70% travel to customer sites within 100 miles of Cranberry Township, PA, as well as 10% travel to customer sites in other areas of Ohio, Pennsylvania and the Northeastern US, and 20% telecommuting from home.
Technical Service Representative II
Provide efficient and timely technical assistance to assigned customers in matters relating to their packaging equipment operations and facilitate customer quality and packaging performance improvement. Service customer equipment, where applicable, to maintain optimum performance of equipment, packaging films and shrink bag materials. Perform and complete package/shrink bag and machine audits on packaging machines. Identify machinery and packaging film/shrink bag problems and ensure that they are properly communicated to the appropriate staff representatives. Participate in field trials of new packaging materials. Assist in the installation and start‑up of all packaging equipment manufactured and sold by Amcor and provide input into the design, installation and start‑up of packaging equipment manufactured by outside suppliers. Train customers on proper operation and maintenance of equipment and Amcor film, as well as training other Amcor Technical Service Reps on how to train the customer.
Position requires 70% travel to customer sites within 100 miles of Cranberry Township, PA, as well as 10% travel to customer sites in other areas of Ohio, Pennsylvania and the Northeastern US, and 20% telecommuting from home.
- Associate's degree in a technical field such as Packaging or an Engineering field related to packaging (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology) or foreign equivalent, and 5 years of experience in an occupation related to engineering or technical service in the food packaging industry.
- 5 years of experience in engineering or technical service related to food packaging materials and machinery
- 5 years of experience servicing packaging equipment, including at least 7 of the following:
- Liquid VFFS equipment
- VFFS for dry goods
- HFFS packaging machines (Forming/Nonforming)
- Rotary packaging equipment
- Labeling Machines
- Beverage Shrink Packers
- Sachet Machines
- Bakery equipment
- Vacuum packaging
- 5 years of experience applying knowledge of film construction and formulation (i.e., Monolayer film vs Coextrusion vs Laminate, Extrusion Lamination vs Solvent or Adhesive Lamination, PE, Polyester, Nylon, PS) to resolve technical and material performance issues in a packaging manufacturing environment.
